Our Trustees

SOPA is governed by a Board of Trustees.

Our trustees are all dedicated individuals who freely volunteer their time, expertise and skills to ensure SOPA is the best it can be.

Alison Clyde

Alison Clyde joined the Board in late 2024 and took up the position of Chair following the AGM in March 2025. As CEO of Generations Working Together and with over 25 years of third sector and board leadership experience, Alison contributes significant strategic expertise. Her governance background includes six years as a Trustee with Deafblind Scotland and seven years with Town Break Dementia Services. Across her career, Alison has continuously supported charity boards in senior roles, strengthening organisational vision and accountability.

Alison was the SOPA Chair from March 2025 – March 2026 and remains on the Board as a Trustee sharing her skills and expertise.

Gordon Fraser

Trustee

Gordon Fraser joined the SOPA Team as a Trustee in February 2026. He has a background in Business Development as a former employee with Edinburgh Council. Now retired, Gordon is even more active in the community as he plays bowls, enjoys Bridge and attends Art classes regularly. In his spare time he supports a couple of local groups where he endeavours to meet and address the needs of older people, particularly focussing on issues such as loneliness and health. Gordon strongly believes that older people need a louder voice both nationally and locally and will support SOPA to raise the voice of older people.

Rosemary Jackson

Trustee

Rosemary better known as Rose, became a Trustee of SOPA in November 2025. Rose is a dedicated advocate for social justice and equality, spending decades championing the rights and welfare of older people in Scotland. She has extensive experience in grassroots activism, and collaborative campaining, Rose combines strategic vision with hands-on engagement to influence policy and improve lives.

Rose comes to SOPA with a history of being the previous Chair of the Scottish Pensioners Forum, and is the ongoing Secretary for the Edinburgh UNISON for the Retired Members Section as well as a Member of the Unison Scottish Retired Members Committess & National Standing Orders Committee.

A previous residential care worker for the elderly where she developed and practiced strong advocacy skills for older people’s rights.
